Professor Tonya Butler, J.D., LL.M. is an award-winning speaker, teacher, author, actress and industry advocate. A seasoned veteran of the music business, Butler has more than 14 years of experience as an entertainment attorney and label executive working for various major and independent record labels, music publishers, and film studios.
She has 15 years of undergraduate and graduate level teaching experience and is currently the Assistant Chair of Music Business/Management at Berklee College of Music. In the summer of 2020, Butler will be promoted to Chair and will serve as the first female and the first person of color to lead the department.
 A staunch advocate of business, entrepreneurship and empowerment education for all musicians, Professor Butler has written a ground-breaking career guide entitled, “The Music Business is Corrupt…or Maybe You Just Can’t Sing?” available on Amazon.com.
