Marghie Evans is Managing Direction at Do Write Music LLC, a company that represents various songwriters including Janis Ian, Tom Paxton, Robin Zander (Cheap Trick), Ed Hill, Victoria Shaw, Old Crow Medicine Show and Janis Ian, as well as catalogues from several independent publishers including hits for Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, and Luke Bryan and Christina Aguilera. The company also works in the areas of song registration and copyright; license and collection of royalties on digital, mechanical and sync rights; and preparation of royalty statements. Do Write Music is a synch licensing business that includes music supervision for various RFD-TV series including the shows Marty Stuart Show, Ray Stevens Show, and Jimmy Dean Show; specials such as Hallmark’s Dollywood, Kenny Rogers’ First Fifty Years, and Ron White Comedy Special for the Troops; and ESPN documentaries Boys of Fall and The Color Orange. Evans, a partner at the company, also sits on the boards of Leadership Music and the Copyright Society of the South and consults with Fail Trade Music International. Prior to her current role, Evans was a Freelance Media Consultant, co-producing and licensing a DVD of The Players and The Kathy Mattea Christmas DVD. She acted as an agent for Dream Arks, Japan, selling home video rights for a series of Japanese live TV jazz concerts. Evans also cleared music for film, TV, DVDs, online uses and commercials for various independent production companies. She previously served as Head of Video Rights & Clearances for Universal Pictures, coordinating their rights management database as well as for Polygram Filmed Entertainment in the UK. Evans is a professional singer/songwriter, whose song “Some Things Never Change” was a Top 20 Country hit in 1986.
