Likewise, these digital streaming platforms have also evolved the broader music industry’s approach to discovering new talent and developing their careers, offering more data and insights than ever before. This discussion will cover how streaming has changed the way creators forge their own path in transitioning from "bedroom musician" to "mainstream success," its impact on the broader music industry, and what terms like “discovery” and “success” mean in this new age.

The Collaborator’s Dilemma: Getting What’s Yours Even When You've Given Up Control
You partnered up and worked hard during the creative process. Despite some push-and-pull along the way, in the end, an amazing piece of music has been birthed.  The delicate conversation about who did what has been had and the split sheets are signed. So the hard part is over… or is it?

From idea to administration, this panel will explore the legal and practical implications of collaborations and provide sound advice on protecting your interests in co-authored songs and records. Topics will include statutory rights of co-authors, copyright assignments, (co)publishing and (co)administration agreements, fractional licensing, and the impact of recent changes brought about by the Music Modernization Act. Additionally, we will cover best practices when it comes to registering your contributions with the various collection societies and ensuring your co-collaborators hold up their end of the bargain.
