How Streaming is Evolving the Path to Mainstream Success

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The rise of digital streaming platforms like SoundCloud is evolving the way a creator kickstarts their career - giving them immediate access to a community and tools. Likewise, these digital streaming platforms have also evolved the broader music industry’s approach to discovering new talent and developing their careers, offering more data and insights than ever before. This discussion will cover how streaming has changed the way creators forge their own path in transitioning from "bedroom musician" to "mainstream success," its impact on the broader music industry, and what terms like “discovery” and “success” mean in this new age.

This session is part of our Indie Artist & Songwriter Forum, powered by Songtrust
Now in its third year, our Indie Artist & Songwriter Forum gathers the brightest minds serving the indie community to cover the most pressing topics facing these creatives as they embrace new business models to take control of their careers. This year’s Forum will be headlined by a keynote presentation from industry legend and Co-Founder of The Orchard Richard Gottehrer, and an overview of Songtrust’s rights management platform and its possibilities for royalty collection. The program’s panels will address how music streaming is changing the path to mainstream success, how to navigate the legalities of collaborating with other artists, and the power that emerging Blockchain technology is already giving to indie artists.
