2 – 2:35 PM   The Evolution of Latin Music Fans: Why They’re the Ultimate Consumers
As early adopters of technology from mobile devices to streaming services, Latin music fans often serve as a barometer for emerging consumption trends. Join Nielsen Music as they profile modern day Latin music fans and their listening habits in the U.S. This presentation will provide a deep dive into their purchase behaviors and explore how technology and social media access are making this important demographic an “X factor” for the music industry.

Presenter
David Bakula, Nielsen Music

2:40 – 3:15 PM  Collaborations and Technologies: Pushing Latin to the Mainstream
First was 'Bailando” Enrique Iglesias, then "El perdón" with Nicky Jam, and then “Despacito.” Now, consumer demand for Latin music and the growth of streaming have pushed Latin music to the verge of mainstream. Over recent years, Latin music began to change musically and lyrically, becoming more urban and more universal. The genre has seen collaborations between more traditional artists and Latin Urban artists that are reaching greater audiences. Couple this new DIY infrastructure — highly innovative digital instruments and production tools, accessibility to cloud-based recording and mastering capabilities — with the fact that Latin America is by far the fastest growing music market in the world, and this year we will see the emergence of new global artists from Colombia, Mexico, Brazil and surrounding countries. Join us as we showcase a few examples of successful collaborations which helped artists rise to stardom in the Latin music market.

Presenter
Dennis Murcia, Tropisounds

3:20 – 4 PM     Driving Fan Engagement and Consumption of the Expanding Latin Music Genre
Latin music has grown into a global phenomenon. Serving a generation that first connected with mobile devices, streaming has become the predominant way these fans consume music. We will examine how some of the most popular artists have used the new consumption model to build a global audience.

This panel will cover topics including growing a streaming-centric audience, using content to fuel word-of-mouth conversations, targeting your most engaged and influential followers, and using data to guide iterative decision making in direct-to-fan marketing.
