This panel will discuss exactly how the termination process works, along with numerous legal issues related to copyright terminations for pre-1978 copyrights and post-1978 grants from the songwriter's perspective as well as the publishing company losing the copyright. We'll cover which royalties get paid to which party, and when; comparing what the copyright law states to what the industry practices. What are options to sell songs back to the original publisher, and how are those copyrights valued? Is it better to sell for immediate up front money, or keep for the long term for heirs?
