For years, the pendulum seemed to swing from one extreme to the other in the fight between humans and robots for playlisting supremacy: Taste vs. tech, intuition vs. data sets, art vs. science. Now it's become increasingly clear that this isn't a battle, but a balance. We'll discuss the role human expertise can play in informing and refining the metadata and algorithms that power automated playlists, and the role that data can play in making human curation more broadly appealing and impactful—all with the goal of building listener trust and increasing consumption.
