You partnered up and worked hard in the creative process. An amazing piece of music has been birthed.  The hard conversation about who did what has been had and the split sheets are signed. Now what?   From idea to administration, this panel will explore the legal and practical implications of collaborations and provide sound advice on how to protect your interest in co-authored songs and records.  Topics will include statutory rights of co-authors, copyright assignments, (co)publishing and (co)administration agreements, fractional licensing, and the impact of recent changes brought about by the Music Modernization Act.  Additionally, we will cover best practices when it comes to registering your contributions with the various collection societies and ensuring your co-collaborators hold up their end of the bargain.
